Our highlight this week is the induction of 34 student senate members who will help lead our 17 ARI school districts from the student perspective. Catch WYMT’s coverage of the induction pess ceremony using our first link in ARI Tech in the News . Student senate members will want to page down to Apps of the Week for a “How To” for downloading free Apple iPad Apps on their new iPad Air, which they received at the induction ceremony this past Friday. In addition, they will need to download the Lync 2013 App on their devices for future use as a videoconferencing tool. In this Tech Tuesday update the Kentucky School Board Association joins several other organizations in reporting on the progress securitales of the ARI technology initiative. The October edition of KSBA’s Kentucky School Advocate highlighted our work as what may be “the next step in the evolution of education.” Read more under ARI Tech in the News. A bit of a change in format this week in the Tech Tuesday Update. When first opening you will notice a menu of sorts, with quick links to sections throughout the document. All “new” items are marked as “new” in red. The menu is an effort to reduce the time you have to look for items of most interest. We hope our efforts with Tech Tuesday will show an evolution of our own learning – no different than what we hope for our students.
Highlights this week are two new Promising Practice dashboard camera additions and two new Tech Tips . “Blended Learning Models” is placed in Links/Resources Worth a Look and could be missed. A Special Announcement on the first page of Tech Tuesday this week related to a needed upgrade for the MondoPad. Several new items under Promising analyser Practice and ARI Tech Tips . For those of us in the middle analyser of 1 to 1 device purchases, pay special attention to “Digital Citizenship analyser with Our Device Rollout” under the Promising Practice section. This story includes a complete lesson analyser performed by ARI elementary teachers (Amber Cantrell and Kim Fields) in an effort to help those with upcoming device roll outs or who still need to address “device use and care” with “digital citizenship.”
November 14th is the deadline for registration in the National “Hour of Code.” If you haven’t heard, this is a “catching fire” event. Do you use countdown timers in your lessons? From observations of the trial for more than fifteen years of practice of lighting all sorts of trials (the last 10 years - mostly political) for the first time I've seen such a diverse system of security, firex as the trial of terrorists.
